With our new offerings in the Creativity category, we focus on providing opportunities for children to use their imagination and develop their creativity skills so they can continue to grow into the best version of themselves, all while having fun!
Highlights Boat Float Challenge
Kids are invited to build a boat of their design and enter it into a competition.
A boat-building competition where participants are encouraged to create fun themes for their designs and costumes. Boats will be judged in three categories: 1) how well it floats, 2) how fast it goes from point A to B, and 3) creativity of the aesthetic design for the boat and costume.

DIFFERENTIATORS
The Highlights Boat Float Challenge will take the fun and creative spirit of the Redbull Soapbox Race and bring it to the water. While the Great Cardboard Boat Regatta already takes place on the water, our Boat Float Challenge won’t restrict participants to just cardboard. They’ll be free to be as creative as possible in their construction.

Highlights Fantastical Fort Building Kits
A modular set of reinforced cardboard panels for fort building.
A modular set of panels that attach together with strips of hook-and-loop tape. There are several panel designs to choose from, including wood grain, stone, brick, ice, and a color-it-yourself option. Kids can engage in imaginative and independent play. The pieces all pack down to fit in a small box for easy storage.

This will be the first speaker series where both the speakers and the audience are kids. While TED Talks has had some young speakers, the target audience is typically adults. The PBS Kids Talk About show engages kids in conversations with their parents, but doesn’t allow for the kids to take center stage.

Highlights Glow Zone Adventure Park
A monthly subscription box filled with exciting crafts and science projects.
Every month, a new surprise activity will be delivered to Highlights Kids’ doorsteps to spark their creativity and engage their imagination. Each subscription box will be filled with a different activity including everything from unique crafts, to engineering challenges, to science projects, and more. The projects will be designed so little to no parent oversight is needed, putting kids in control of their own creative adventure.

Highlights Conundrum Castle
An immersive adventure experience where puzzles and challenges need to be solved by a team.
Each room in the Highlights Conundrum Castle is filled with a series of puzzles and challenges that need to be solved to break free and move onto the next room. It’s like a live-action video game where the kids are the heroes of the story and can only advance to the next level or room after the current problem has been solved.

Rather than feeling like a typical museum with exhibits, each room at the Highlights Please Play Museum will be like stepping into another world. Each room will have a theme that includes a fully immersive set-design, as well as interactive activities to engage with.

A game where players are asked to solve creative problems and vote on the best solutions.
A video channel that provides fun DIY activities to try at home with an online community where kids can post the results of their projects. Our instructors from the Imagination Studio will produce some of the content, in addition to other guest hosts.

Highlights Creative Challenge
A competition where kids are asked to solve problems using critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.
Kids are placed on teams and asked to solve a creative problem over the course of one month. Problems range from creating products to solve everyday problems, to completely imaginary situations that require innovate solutions. Parents will volunteer as coaches and kids will use their ingenuity, creativity, and teamwork to find the best solution.
